Not all orthodontists offer clear braces for teens. In fact, many do not, preferring to stick with traditional metal braces instead. The reason is understandable. Traditional metal braces have been used for decades and the results are proven and dependable.
A clear option above the rest
As they say, "When something is working, why change it?" We ask this question because we believe in offering patients options in how they straighten their teeth. This question is just as important for teenagers as it is for adults.
If you live, work or go to school in the area, we encourage scheduling a consultation with our orthodontist office. We can discuss clear braces in greater detail and find out if this is the right solution for your teen's teeth. If clear braces are not, then we will make alternative recommendations. However, in most cases, this is a viable solution that can straighten a teen's teeth and improve confidence levels.
Ways to find an orthodontist offering clear braces for teens
For anyone living too far from our clinic, here are suggestions for finding an orthodontist that provides clear braces.
#1. Visit the Dental Association website
As a member of the California Dental Association, we are listed in their directory with other orthodontists. This is a great place to begin the search for an orthodontist that offers clear braces in one's local area.
#2. Speak with other patients
When someone else in school has clear braces, it is an easy thing to ask who their orthodontist is. Teens will be able to get an honest opinion from other students at the school. This allows parents to begin conducting research to find out if this is an orthodontist that takes their insurance plan or is within the area.
#3. Ask the insurance company
Health insurance companies often keep track of things like what services are offered by an individual orthodontist. Plus, they will know who is a preferred provider and in-network. Making a phone call and asking the insurance provider to make a recommendation can be a good place to start the search.
#4. Google it
Conduct an online search for an orthodontist that offers clear braces for teens. You should come up with some providers and if you add your specific city, you should find some that are nearby. Google also has a map feature so the office location should come up and can be mapped for distance.
#5. Read reviews
Yelp, Angie's List, and Google all offer online review tools that allow patients to share their experiences and provide helpful information for others to read. This is a valuable tool when trying to decide between providers. However, it is important not to simply look at the stars a practice has received but to read the reviews.
This gives a person insight into what the practice or a patient's experience may have been like. Plus, one negative review can bring the rating down, making it important to read several.
